Voice and speech
coaching
We use our speaking voice to get closer to one another. That
seems to me always what we are doing (or wishing to do) at
some level or another whenever we open our mouths to speak.
Through the medium of voiced language, we are able to engage
and participate in the sharing of ideas and feelings, in a
“coming together” of hearts and minds. I believe
this to be the essence of human communication, and the great
purpose of our faculty for voice and speech.
The quality of such meetings between people, and the value
of their outcomes, depends largely upon our facility with
a diversity of skills which we begin learning from the moment
of our first breath, and which we continue to cultivate, out
of need, as we grow through life’s experiences.
Recognising their importance we might wish to be pro-active
in developing these skills for ourselves. After all, the medium
of TALK is the way through which we commonly find ourselves
making our most meaningful contact with other people, and
through which we impart the bulk of our daily affairs, throughout
our lives.
The way I see my work as a teacher of voice and speech
skills is essentially to help to make it easier for a person
to come together with other people more satisfactorily, in
accordance with their wishes and needs, through the medium
of spoken language.

Additionally, it is to help foster those feelings of relaxation
and inner peace that come when we feel our voice and what
we say matches who we feel we are and what we want to do -
the confidence that arises from the sense that one is hearing
and understanding, being heard and understood.
